PSV 'CBO ATLANTICO' delivered. The platform supply vessel 'CBO Atlantico' is delivered. She is built in Brazil, and fitted with the latest Cargomaxx system. The vessel was constructed at Estaleiro Alianca Shipyard in Rio de Janeiro, for shipowner CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore). When CBO in 2010 and 2011 decided to order PSV's for Petrobras’ oil rigs support activities outside Brazil, their demands were such: The ships had to adapt to more and more complex operations and bring with them new technologies to provide quality services, ensure safety and protect sensitive marine environments. Their final decision was to order two small vessels (PX106) and four large vessels (PX105). The vessels comply with Petrobras’ PSV3000 and PSV4500 tenders, and are designed for effective and flexible transportation of bulk and general cargo to installations offshore.

Van Aalst Marine & Offshore, inventors of the multi application tank system CargoMaxx, have opened an office in Houston, TX. CargoMaxx is swiftly gaining ground in the offshore support sector, allowing supply vessels to deliver dry cargo to a platform and carry drill cuttings to shore in the very same tanks. Van Aalst is looking to extend the concept to offshore platforms for space-saving, below deck bulk storage of drill cuttings. Wijnand van Aalst, CEO: “A proven concept on board supply vessels, CargoMaxx not only saves a lot of space. It is a safe, closed system with zero environmental impact. The entire discharge process is basically a single and continuous flow through a hose connection between platform and ship, requiring no hands, no crane; ten times faster than conventional handling. We see strong interest from oil companies and platform owners, and have created our own presence in Houston to be able to provide first-hand commercial and technical service and support.”
Platform drill cuttings to be stored in bulk with CargoMaxx. Van Aalst Marine & Offshore Group is looking to extend its successful CargoMaxx concept, an innovation increasingly installed on supply vessels, to below deck installation on offshore platforms. CargoMaxx PSV's straight into succesful operation. Van Aalst Marine & Offshore reports the successful commissioning of the first CargoMaxx-equipped platform supply vessel ‘Rem Hrist’ by Remøy Shipping of Norway. The vessel, built by Ulstein Verft of Ulsteinvik, is equipped with six Multi Application Tanks that can carry both dry bulk and liquid cargoes. Designated CargoMaxx, these tanks allow for delivering dry bulk cargo to the platform and utilizing the same tanks for drill cuttings taken to shore on the return trip. Following a successful first performance at Seadrill's West Alpha platform in the North Sea, the ‘Rem Hrist’ has gone straight into a long term charter contract with Statoil.
