Camas®

CAMAS® is the computerized loading and discharging system that controls the complete procedure of filling and discharging all CargoMaxx tanks on board. If the tanks carry dry cargo, CAMAS ® controls all valves, compressors, pumps of the Van Aalst discharge system. If liquid cargo is being carried, CAMAS® controls the pumps and valves of CagoMaxx liquid cargo system.
Centre of CAMAS® is a PLC (Prgrammable Logic Controller), installed inside an electrical cabinet in the engine room. CAMAS® can be fully controlled from a flush mounted, 12" daylight touch screen display in the wheelhouse panel. A seperate control panel, similar to that in the wheelhouse, is installed in the ECR.
Advantages of CAMAS®
Safety - By computerized remote control of the valves, chances of an operational error are minimized.
Easy to operate - Operating with CAMAS® is simple and requires little skill, providing full discharge capacity and eliminating risks of human error.
No pipe line blockages - With CAMAS® regulating air supply, there is no risk of blockage of the cement/liquid mud line: very reassuring for operators on a tight time schedule of today's charters.
Save on equipment - The Control system automatically circulates 6 tanks with only 3 pumps, while all valve settings and pumps starts/stops are automatic. Agitators can therefore be removed.
Small wheelhouse panel - With a simple on/off switch, and EM stop and a touch screen display, CAMAS® requires very little installation space.
Discharging program
The specially designed CAMAS® discharge program requires only setting the required discharge pressure and the discharging sequence. The system will automatically start compressors, dryers and vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, tank washing equipment, after checking with the main switchboard (heavy load enquiry function) also for sufficient cooling water supply. The Cargomaxx tank will then be emptied and cargo pumped onto the offshore platform at maximum discharge rate.
Loading program
CAMAS® is also equipped with a special loading program. As the operator sets which Cargomaxx tanks should be loaded from which side, CAMAS® will open the relevant valves. The system provides visual monitoring of which tanks are already loaded and and automatically switches to the next if a tank is full. The operator is notified by acoustic signal upon completion of the filling procedure.
